GemEx^® is the global leader in diamond Brilliance, Fire and Sparkle certification.

What makes one diamond beautiful and another one dull is the way it reflects and refracts light, better known as the diamond’s light performance. Brilliance (white light), Fire (color light) and Scintillation (sparkle) are the three categories of a diamond’s light return. GemEx scientifically measures the play of light in a diamond to determine its light performance.

The GemEx BrillianceScope® Analyzer uses patented technology to measure each and every diamond. It measures a diamond's white light (brilliance), color light (fire) and scintillation (sparkle). It then rates each of these three measures compared to other diamonds of the same shape. The scale for each shape was set by measuring thousands of diamonds to determine the highest and lowest amount of white light, color light and scintillation possible for each shape.

GemEx reviews and validates the results of every diamond and provides consumers with the GemEx Certificate showing images of the diamond under five different light views used for measurement of light performance.  Jewelers and consumers throughout the U.S., Hong Kong, UK, Caribbean and the Netherlands, have been shown “the light” when it comes to an easy way to purchase and compare diamonds, thus eliminating guesswork. GemEx has issued light performance certificates on over 1.75 million diamonds.

GemEx Live Report™ is a powerful online and countertop tool designed to assist the diamond industry and consumers in finding truly beautiful diamonds with superior brilliance, fire and sparkle. The Live Report is a digital diamond certificate with interactive information that complements the GemEx Certificate.
