Introduction to GemEx®
Brilliance, Fire and Sparkle
The brilliance, fire and sparkle (light performance) in a diamond is the most important factor in choosing a diamond.
We have all been to a cocktail party, restaurant or other evening gathering where one or two diamonds catch our eye. Yet there are probably hundreds of diamonds in the room, and they all looked good in the jewelry store. The diamonds you notice have superior brilliance, fire and sparkle.
When shopping for a diamond, we focus on buying a beautiful diamond. What gives a diamond superior brilliance, fire and sparkle is not the rarity, it is the way the diamond plays with light.
GemEx measures the blingTM. GemEx is the only independent, scientific measurement of diamond brilliance, fire and sparkle. By using GemEx when buying a diamond, you guarantee a diamond with superior brilliance, fire and sparkle. A beautiful diamond that will be noticed!
Diamond Pricing and the 4C’s
Diamonds are priced on the rarity as determined by the 4C’s (Color, Clarity, Carat weight, and Cut). The traditional 4C information does not help to separate a beautiful diamond from a diamond with inferior brilliance, fire and sparkle. The diamond 4C’s define the rarity of a particular diamond, and thus its price. The rarity of a diamond does not define its beauty.
Diamond color and clarity is not measured, they are an opinion!
Diamond labs view the color of a diamond upside down and loose. The differences between the different grades of color are not visible from color D through H when you are wearing your diamond. Quick question: What is the color F? Don’t buy a diamond because of color, buy brilliance, fire and sparkle.
Of the traditional 11 clarity grades, you need a microscope to view the highest 8 grades. You can’t see it while wearing your diamond but diamonds are priced based on small differences in clarity.
While the carat weight of a diamond is important, it doesn’t necessarily show the perceived size of a diamond. A diamond with superior brilliance, fire and sparkle will look significantly larger than an average diamond with the same carat weight.
More Beauty & Size…Less Money
A $6,000 diamond can be just as beautiful as or even more beautiful than a $12,000 diamond of the same size. To make your diamond dollar go farther, trade rarity for size and beauty.
How can you make sure you are buying a beautiful diamond that will stand out at a party or restaurant? Make sure you buy a diamond that has been measured by GemEx for brilliance, fire and sparkle!
The GemEx Certificate is a small fraction of the price of a diamond. Beware of diamonds that are not independently measured for brilliance, fire and sparkle. Why haven’t they been measured? Is there something to hide?
Beware of the numbers game!
The standard 4C’s diamond certificates will only tell you its relative rarity, not its relative beauty. 4C certificates help the jeweler with confusing information that doesn’t show you a diamond’s beauty. Trust your eyes and buy certified diamond beauty.
Don’t listen to diamond merchants that tell you the angles and proportions define a beautiful diamond. Diamond angles and proportions do not measure the entire diamond. They try to predict if a diamond is beautiful. Why try to predict? GemEx measures the actual brilliance, fire and sparkle of diamonds. GemEx can show you plenty of diamonds with “Perfect Proportions” that do not perform.
Beware of Imitators!
Beware of imitators of GemEx certificates. Imitators of GemEx try to predict the light performance of diamonds. GemEx measures the Light Return to the eye using spectrophotometry and provides a certificate with each individual diamond. With its patented technology, GemEx measures each and every diamond, then reviews and validates the results for each diamond and then provides you with the GemEx Certificate showing your diamond’s brilliance, fire and sparkle.
GemEx does not sell diamonds, we only help you choose a beautiful diamond.
